NOVEMBER 23, 2009  An Updated Response.  Safe water for 50,000 victims needed. Click here to learn more!

The below program is intended to meet the immediate emergency water needs of the disaster victims in the South Pacific Nations AND provide a means of disaster preparedness for future catastrophic events.

We need everyone to direct their friends, family, and acquaintances to contribute to this relief effort even if its only $5!

Please Note: This Program is not being provided by the Disaster Relief Rotarian Action Group-DRRAG, nor is it a program of Rotary International. While most of us are members of DRRAG (Disaster Relief - Rotarian Action Group), this effort is solely a project developed by  Network members.  Military first-responders, NGOs, faith-based groups, and providers of goods and services are answering "The Call to Action".

The recent combination of disasters in the South Pacific have awaken everyone to the need to respond. Events such as we have experienced the past couple weeks happen every year, but fortunately not at the same time. But it's the combination of these events that might well prompt all of us to take a look at the LONG TERM as well as the present. Hence our presentation of a viable Preparedness Program.

For the Short Term .. We start with the Waterbox®  weights a couple of Pounds - replaces 2.6 TONs of bottled water  That's 5072 16 oz bottles of water .. 211 cases.

Used successfully in Panama and other hotspots around the globe.  It is an "event-proven", easy-to- use, GSA approved, product utilizing technology developed by Proctor & Gamble AND provided at a 40% discount through the efforts of Reliance Products Canada and Clean Water International    (both members of the  Network )

As an emergency water source nothing is as easy to use or as cost-efficient as The WaterBox®. Flying water into disaster victims is one of the most costly parts of the relief process. Estimates from the Tsunami a couple years back were that it cost US and Australian taxpayers $350/person/day to fly water in from the decks of their aircraft carriers.

The WaterBox® normally sells for $250, and the CWI First Responder Water Filtration System up to $10,000 - depending upon the generation system provided (gas, diesel, solar, wind, etc.). Through everyone's efforts we can save lives and minimize long-term costs by taking advantage of this initiative

CWI First Responder Water Filtration System

 SEE: www.cleanwaterinternational.org

The System is simply one of the best portable water Purification System available anywhere. This System comes housed in an easy to carry Polyethylene case with a one piece detachable lid which allows easy access to every component.

This state of the art system can act as a standalone if there is a source of water pressure.  If no source of water pressure, this system can be purchased  with either a gasoline powered pump or a solar powered pump.

The gasoline powered pump is a 17 GPM gas pump and includes a 6 foot suction hose with fittings.  This gas pump is rated (pumping 10 to 12 hours a day) to pump 6,000 gallons of pure, clean water a day, enough water for over 10,000 thirsty people.  Varying conditions may either increase or decrease production.

The solar powered pump is complete with a controller and twin pole mounted panel solar array.  This solar pump is rated (pumping 10 to 12 hours a day) to pump 3,000 gallons of pure, clean water a day, enough water for over 5,000  thirsty people.  Varying conditions may either increase or decrease production.

As a First Responder, this Clean Water System is designed to filter some of the nastiest waters pulled from lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks, well water, stored water or standing ground flood water.  It is the perfect solution for emergency use until such time as municipalities are able to restore water service. The best part however, is that the units are fully portable and can be easily relocated to meet the needs of a disaster relief team. For more details, check out the above website link.
