Books For Africa

Books For Africa. A simple name for an organization with a simple mission. We collect, sort, ship, and distribute books to children in Africa. Our goal: to end the book famine in Africa.

Books For Africa is the world’s largest shipper of donated books to the African continent. Since 1988, Books For Africa has shipped over 20 million high-quality text and library books to 45 African countries. Millions more are needed.

It costs $9,800 to send a sea container to most major sea ports of books and computers to Africa. Your donation will enable Books For Africa to send even more books to children in Africa who are hungry to read, hungry to learn.

Network Partnerr SEEDs with Network Partners .. Provided Seed Packets to over 8,000 Families in Haiti. Each will provide food for a family for one year. In September, the program will provide seed to 647,000 families. Contact us to learn how you can support this program.

ROTARIANS SOWING SEED TO FIGHT WORLD HUNGER
SERVICE ABOVE SELF

Chronic hunger, poverty, malnutrition and disease have threatened mankind throughout our existence.

The District 7680 program Rotarians Sowing Seed To Fight World Hunger ships packets of vegetable seed and provides training material to school children, orphans, families and community groups enabling them to grow vegetable gardens. The vegetables produced are a rich source of important vitamins and minerals often missing in the diets of the poor.

The program has a proven record. Rotary Clubs from nine Districts have supported shipment of seed to 11 countries since 1998, often through Peace Corps. It is both self-help and cost effective as people receiving seed do all the work. The program enhances people’s self-esteem while boosting their teamwork skills..

The Humanitarian Network has no official affiliation with any Service Organization. It has been developed and will continue to be developed and maintained as an initiative of individuals helping those involved in humanitarian projects. .

Mission Statement: To promote and provide support for all involved in international humanitarian aid projects and disaster relief; to assist in sourcing supplies and/or personnel; initiate partnerships domestically and within the recipient country; arrange cost-efficient shipment utilizing commercial and military assets when available; provide project and geographic consultation when requested; and aid in the funding process using whatever resources that may be available. Network members and partners provide mission services.
